Professor Li Ming Wen

Prof Li Ming is the Director of Population Health Research and Evaluation Hub based at Sydney Local Health District, one of the leading population health and health promotion services in Australia. He is also a Clinical Professor in the Sydney School of Public Health, University of Sydney, and Clinical Adjunct Professor in the School of Public Health, Fudan University, China. He serves as Associate Editor, Frontiers in Endocrinology.

Li Ming is an acknowledged national and international expert in health promotion research and evaluation with specific expertise in the areas of childhood obesity prevention, research translation as well as conducting clinical trials. Over the past 15 years, as Principal Investigator, he has led a research team that successfully applied for several NHMRC grants in developing, implementing, evaluating and translating the Healthy Beginnings Trial, the world-first effective early obesity prevention program, published in BMJ 2012. Since then he has also led the development of a suite of Healthy Beginnings programs delivered through home visiting, telephone support, text messaging, or mobile application. A cultural adaptation of Healthy Beginnings was also pilot tested with Chinese- and Arabic- speaking families with promising results.
