Jessica Appleton is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Technology Sydney and an affiliate Research Fellow at The University of Sydney. She is also a registered nurse with specialisation in paediatric nursing and child and family health. Her research focuses on research translation and implementation science of early obesity prevention programs as part of Stream 3 of the EPOCH-Translate CRE. She is also a member of the EPOCH-Connect Community of Practice coordination committee.
Jessica completed her PhD in 2020 which explored infant formula feeding in the context of rapid weight gain in infancy, a risk factor for later overweight or obesity. Her PhD identified a gap in evidence around knowledge of infant formula feeding particularly the information and advice, or lack thereof, provided by primary healthcare professionals to parents feeding with infant formula.
